Overview: |
Since 2002, the Clinton Health Access Initiative, CHAI (formerly the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative), has been assisting developing countries in implementing large-scale, integrated HIV care, treatment, and prevention programs. CHAI is currently active in Africa, the Caribbean, Asia, and Eastern Europe.
CHAI will apply the techniques it has successfully used to improve access to HIV/AIDS and malaria treatment in developing countries to essential vaccines. By scaling up vaccines coverage in developing countries to 90 percent and introducing new vaccines; pentavalent, pneumococcal conjugate and rotavirus vaccines; the death of over 7.6 million children could be averted over the next decade.
CHAI Nigeria is currently seeking a State Engagement Analyst to accelerate the introduction and uptake of life-saving pentavalent and pneumococcal vaccines. Nigeria is one of the focus countries where CHAI has worked closely with the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) to roll-out HIV/AIDS and health systems strengthening programs in recent years. As part of this initiative, CHAI will support the FMOH and state MOHs to effectively plan, execute and evaluate the introduction of the new vaccines.
